Caribou Kids care for Revelstoke community, raising $2,580 for free counselling
Local daycare owner Rajan Chhinji is motivated to fundraise for the women’s shelter’s Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser because she wants to support and grow community through Caribou Kids.

“We work with kids and families. We know the importance of having good emotional support in the community. It’s all connected with what we do, it’s important for kids to have a safe place for their home and healthy happy parents.”
Rajan and her team have already raised $2,580, smashing their record last year. They show what a small, invested group of people can do, reaching out to their network of family and friends in Revelstoke and beyond. One boy at the daycare even contributed, asking for donations instead of gifts for his fifth birthday party, after his mom’s explanation of the fundraiser.
It all contributes to the shelter’s $35,000 fundraising goal to continue its free counselling program. “It’s important to have that sort of support not only for women, anyone,” Rajan says. “Especially those who can’t afford to pay.”
As a small business, the Caribou Kids team doesn’t have deep pockets but they have made an impact. As Revelstoke grows, so does its needs and we’re looking for our lead sponsor, an organisation that wants to be at the forefront of supporting the health and wellbeing of the Revelstoke community.
