These epic photos from the fifth annual La Nina Sled Camp show being charitable can be a whole lot of fun.
Men and women came together late last year for La Nina Sled Camp’s annual charity ride, which was captured by photographers Pat Garbutt and Cassandra Prochera.
“It’s a big social event. Everyone’s pretty happy with the new friends they met, and they exchange numbers and ride together in the future,” said Nadine Overwater, owner/coach of La Nina and pro athlete.

Each year a small charity is picked where the money can make a difference. The 2018 chosen charity was the Revelstoke Women’s Shelter Society with executive director Lynn Loeppky grateful to receive a cheque of $6,376.
“Having men and women come together to support each other and support us is what we’re all about,” Loeppky said. “We’re thankful and I’m sure our clients are as it’s them who this money really helps and shows that people do care.”
Overwater started the charity ride in 2013 when she wanted to do something that gave back to the community. Previously recipients have been Open Mountains Project, who promote youth leadership and resilience, and the Hospice Society, who were able to train three staff with the donation.
“That’s kind of a big deal,” Overwater said. “When you see the money make a difference.”
